Editorial team

Tijana Cvjetićanin
For a decade, Tijana Cvjetićanin has been working with what is called fact-checking in English, and what could be translated into our language as “establishing facts”, or checking the accuracy of information. Tijana participated in the creation and management of two pioneering projects of this kind in BiH, both developed by the organization “Why not”: Istinomjer (2010) and Raskrinkavanje (2017).

During 2018/2019, in addition to domestic fact-checking platforms, Tijana also led the international project “FemFacts”, dedicated to checking the accuracy and objectivity of media coverage of women and women’s issues in the European media.

Since the spring of 2019, she has been a member of the Advisory Board of the International Fact-Checking Network, which connects hundreds of fact-checking projects around the world.

In addition to working on fact-checking platforms, Tijana is the author and/or co-author of several papers in areas such as political accountability, media/discourse analysis, media freedom, media literacy, BiH EU integration and government openness.

Emir Zulejhić
Emir joined the Association of Citizens “Why not” in 2017. He has been a part of the Raskrinkavanje team since its establishment, and he has been analyzing media content ever since. Also, Emir is the editor and project coordinator at Raskrinkavanje.

He has completed a one-year program, “Academy for Young Leaders in Civil Society” of the SHL Foundation 2017, and he won the scholarship of the Digital Communications Network exchange and fellowship program, which he attended in the USA in 2019. He was also a student of the School of Political Studies in BiH in the class of 2020/2021. Emir is currently an undergraduate student in International Relations and Diplomacy at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo.

Emir has been an activist since high school years. He also works as a trainer in the youth education department of the SHL Foundation, as an occasional educator, trainer and consultant of many civil society organizations, and is a regular speaker at domestic and international conferences. So far, he has been the author and co-author of several research papers, publications and manuals in the fields of quality of education, political literacy, media analysis, media misinformation and media literacy.

Darko Brkan
Darko Brkan is the president of the Association of Citizens “Why not”, an organisation that is a pioneer in promoting civic activism, political, media and social responsibility, as well as in using new technologies and digital media to strengthen democracy in BiH. He is also Chairman of the Steering Committee of the regional network ACTION SEE (Accountability, Technology and Institutional Openness Network in the South East Europe region), member of the Steering Committee of the TransparenCEE Network for Central and Eastern Europe, and member of the International Advisory Board of the ePanstwo Foundation in Poland. He was a member and founder of several prominent civic movements and actions in BiH and the region, and began his activist career as one of the founders of the Campaign for conscientious objection in BiH 18 years ago.

He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo, Department of Computer and Information Science, and is currently an MBA candidate at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo and at the Department of Strategic Information Management in Zagreb. His professional interests are mainly related to the topics of new technologies, digital communications, social media, elections and other political processes, political parties and platforms, civic activism and participation, international relations, demilitarisation, etc.

He is a Marshal Memorial Fellow of the German Marshal Fund for the year 2018/2019 and was a Facebook International Fellow at the 2018 Personal Democracy Forum, a Draper-Hills Summer Fellow at the Center on Democracy, Development and Rule of Law (CCDRL) at Stanford University, as well as a Reagan-Fascell Fellow in 2012 at the International Forum for Democratic Studies in Washington, where he explored how new information technologies can help civil society work. In addition, he is an Alumni of the 2016 Stanford Leadership Academy and Ambassador of the Stanford Alumni for the Balkans, then 2008 Alumni of the Council of Europe Academy for Political Excellence, 2010 Alumni of the Fletcher Institute for the Advanced Study of Nonviolent Conflict, and an Alumni of the United States exchange program after participating in the 2009 IVLP program. He was also a member of the Steering Board of the US Alumni Association in BiH for the period 2011-2014, and of the ACIPS Political Council for the period 2010-2011. He is also the winner of the US Alumni Innovation Fund international award.

He is the author of several publications in various fields of his interest and is a regular speaker at international conferences and institutions, and interlocutor to numerous international and local media.

Rašid Krupalija
Rašid joined the Raskrinkavanje team in December 2019.

From 2006 to 2019, he edited Bosnia Daily, a daily electronic newspaper in English, and occasionally B&H Business Daily, a daily electronic newspaper in English featuring economic news. His previous engagements included reporting for Sarajevo’s Kameleon City Radio from 2004 to 2006.

Rašid has collaborated with several organizations and media during his journalism work, including UNDP, Federal television, Pravo Ljudski Film Festival, Café Babel magazine, Balkan Insight portal, Mediacentar and LGBT.ba website.

Elma Murić
Elma Murić graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, Department of Journalism, and has many years of work experience in online media in BiH. She started exploring the issue of hate speech and the importance of journalistic ethics in media reports while studying journalism, and after graduating she became more active in volunteering on projects for media development and media literacy, including activities in the Council of Europe campaign, No Hate Speech Movement, Erasmus + projects and activities on European Youth Press projects. In addition to journalism, she studied political science at the Universities of Graz and Zagreb, and in 2013 she graduated from the Academic School of Media Studies at the University of Oslo. She joined the “Why not” team in December 2019.

Journalists and researchers:

Amar Karađuz
Amar is a final year undergraduate student of International Relations at the International University in Sarajevo. He joined the team of the Association of Citizens “Why not” in July 2019 as an intern, and he was actively engaged in the work of Raskrinkavanje’s editorial office from December of the same year. He is a participant in local and regional debate projects on Euro-Atlantic integration.

Amina Čeliković
Amina Čeliković is currently completing her undergraduate studies in International Relations and European Studies at the International Burch University in Sarajevo. She joined the Association of Citizens “Why not” in September 2019, where she did her internship for Istinomjer, and then monitoring for the Regional Openness Index. She joined the Raskrinkavanje team in December of the same year. Amina has been an activist for many years, and she is also a trainer of the Schüler Helfen Leben Foundation in the youth education program. She has been a part of the Alumni Group of the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina for several years.

Marija Ćosić
Marija Ćosić was born in 1997 in Kotor. She joined the team of the Association of Citizens “Why Not” in November 2020 as an intern. She received her master’s degree in 2021 from the Department of Communication/Journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo. From an early age, she was involved in various projects related to the journalistic profession, on a voluntary and part-time basis. She is the winner of high recognitions at all levels of her previous education.

Mladen Lakić
Mladen joined the Association of Citizens “Why not” in November 2019, as part of the Raskrinkavanje team. Earlier, he worked as a journalist for the Balkan Research Regional Network BIRN, on the regional website Balkan Insight, as a correspondent from BiH.

He also collaborated on media projects with various organizations, such as the Post Conflict Research Center in BiH, Institute for War and Peace Reporting, Mediacentar Sarajevo, etc.

He is a recipient of Srđan Aleksić Award for reporting on marginalized groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United Nations Population Fund’s annual award for reporting on sexual violence during war.

Nerma Šehović
Nerma Ĺ ehović is a first-year master’s student at the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo. She gained her first work experience in the media on websites Monokl.online and Sarajevo Sehara. She joined the Raskrinkavanje team in November 2020 as an intern.

Associates:

Maida Salkanović
Maida Salkanović is the author at Raskrinkavanje. Her journalistic experience includes working at the Sarajevo Center for Investigative Reporting and Klix website, as well as collaborating with numerous media in the country and the region, such as websites Diskriminacija, LGBTI, and Female Space. As a researcher, she worked with the Sarajevo Media Center and the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED). She is the winner of the CEE SEEMO award for the best young professional journalist and the USAID award for journalistic text on the topic of foster care, as well as the award for the best blog on the topic of hate speech in Buka magazine. She holds a master’s degree in democracy and human rights in Southeast Europe from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna, and a BA in psychology and language from Occidental College in Los Angeles. She is an alumna of the United World College in Montezuma.

Marija Manojlović
Marija Manojlović graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Podgorica, Department of Journalism. From 2014 to 2018, she worked at Herceg Television Trebinje, where she performed various journalistic roles – from being a reporter to a news program editor. She is an occasional contributor to Diskriminacija website, and she also collaborates with Direkt website from Trebinje. Moreover, she is a correspondent for the Agroklub.ba website from Herzegovina. In addition to working in the media, she also collaborated with non-governmental organizations in BiH and Montenegro. She has participated in various workshops and trainings in the field of journalism.

Semir DĹľebo
Semir DĹľebo joined the Raskrinkavanje team in December 2020. He gained previous research experience in the field of disinformation at the Center for Media, Data and Society of the Central European University in Vienna. In addition to disinformation, he is also engaged in academic research and is a doctoral student in International Relations program at the Central European University in Vienna.

Alisa Karović
Alisa was born in 1987 in Sarajevo. Since her high school days, she has actively participated in numerous civil society initiatives in BiH (DOSTA movement, CURE Foundation, One World Foundation, “Food, not weapons” collective, BAZA Collective).

She joined the “Why not” team in 2009, where she currently holds the creative manager position.
